Internet Explorer Procedure

The first time you try to access the secured links from outside the B0 domain to make an entry or comment in the CDF e-logs,  your browser will create a separate window that looks like this:

This window warns the user that information will be encrypted.   Whether this warning appears
every time a secured site is accessed is optional.   This is your choice.  You should then click on the "OK" button to proceed.  A new window is then displayed that looks like this:

This window informs the user that the signer of the Certificate is not on the Web browser's current list of recognized Certificate Authorities.  If you only wish to accept this Cetificate for the duration of the browser session, you should click on the "Yes" button, and you are finished.  If you want to accept this Certificate for all times in the future until it expires, you should then click on the "View Certificate" button to proceed.   A new window is then displayed that looks like this:

This window describes the Certificate being presented and allows you to examine the information contained in the Certificate. You should then click on the "Install Certificate" button to proceed. A new window is then displayed that looks like this:

This window indicates the the "import wizard" has been started to install the certificate.  You should
then click on the "Next" button to proceed.  A new window is then displayed that looks like this:

In this window, the "import wizard" is enquiring whether you wish to install the Certificate in
a non-standard location.  You should then click on the "Next" button.  A new window is then displayed that looks like:

In this window, the "import  wizard" informs you of what it is installing and where.  You should then click on the "Finish" button.  A new window is then be displayed that looks like:

The "import wizard" should have checked the Certificate and verified that it is acceptable. (If  you don't see this window, but see an "error" window instead, please try this procedure again from the beginning.  If this still does not work, send email to rvidal@fnal.gov.) This window asks for your final acceptance of the Certificate.  You should then click on the "Yes" button to proceed.  A new window will then be displayed that look like this:

This window indicates that the Certificate has been installed.  You should then click on the "OK" button to proceed.   A new window will then be displayed (if you have not disabled the warning messages) that looks like this:

You should click on the button "Yes".  These warning messages are displayed whenever you are entering/leaving a secured site.  This is your choice.  You should then click on the "Yes" button.   This completes the process of allowing your Web browser to recognize the Certificate from the B0 online Apache SSL server.  Until the CDF online Certificate expires or the DOE provides a new one, when you attempt to make a entry or comment in a CDF e-log for the first time in a browser session, your username/password should then be encrypted before being sent over the Internet.

If you have any problems or suggestions, please send email to rvidal@fnal.gov.
