Start of Shift Notes:

Currently no beam following a quench. The stack is at 186 mA and there is no plan yet from
MCR. Work ongoing on the calorimeter electronics, the silicon, and a PMT spike test run is
planned.

during CALQIE calibration new bad channel found (channel 1 in wedge 22W of PHA detector)
 - josh
-- Thu Feb 26 18:12:30 comment by...m mattson --  Channels 0 and 1 of the PHA are PIN diodes. These are not used during data taking. The pedestals for these channels will drift, if they have recently been biased (or is it unbiased?).

Thu Feb 26 17:07:06 Silicon SRC work
I looked at some possible timing issues in the SRC for clocking in the TAXI. This is trying to find the cause of the occasional HRRs due to the SRC fatal error 'Too many L1A' and 'L2 without L1'.
Nothing conclusive was found. The timing seems OK.

Thu Feb 26 17:18:23 We checked that the spike killer is disabled for spike runs using charge injection. We have put everything back to normal and have verified this using CAL QIE and the standard spike run. - R J Tesarek, V Tiwari

We tested new GB firmware to improve the L2 processing time
by 2-3 usec. (count #good tracks inside this board. then L2
can waste the less meaningful data using that count number).
The improved firmware itself looks fine, but we have trouble in
writing FRAM read/write related to VME crates. It seems that
we need one more iteration. (with sending email to Ops/dicuss it
at 8:00 meeting)

Thu Feb 26 19:39:31 Rob Roser is trying to get hold of Jim Morgan, the Tevatron run coordinator, to understand whether the quench is understood and whether it is safe to run with the silicon in. If Jim calls we should tell him to call Rob at his cell phone number 399-2609. - Robert Harris

I just talked to Brent (Crew Chief) in MCR. They are having
problems with the last bit of cooldown of A4 house. Expert is
trying to determine if they still have a vacuum problem. If so,
another turbo-cart might let them proceed relatively quickly.
Once cold they will do both a dry squeeze and a wet squeeze to
check out orbits before proceeding with shot setup. So it is
hard to imagine collisions any earlier than 2 a.m.. (And easy
to imagine collisions later than that since at moment they
do not have a complete diagnosis of the problem.)
 - JJ
Thu Feb 26 22:24:21 From MCR elog:

22:18:17- Mike Geynisman has been unable to cool down the A4
house due to poor vacuum in the region of A44 and A45. We have
paged vacuum guys in an attempt to get another vacuum pump
placed on the area. - BME
-- Thu Feb 26 22:21:12 comment by...BME --
James Mohns and John Featherstone are on their way in. ETA ~1hr. - JJ
Thu Feb 26 22:54:06 The only analysis that I have currently have of beam incident
today is following entry from MCR elog. (There is similar
information in Tevatron elog.)

"The Tevatron quench earlier today was the result of a vacuum
pirani gauge (T:A4TC9W) readback going bad, causing the downstream
A4 beam valve to close on the beam. This bad pirani gauge has been
replaced as the interlocked input to the beam valve. - BME"

It would of course be nice to have a more complete analysis of
the development of the problem/abort/quench but at the minimum
we do know that the failed component has been replaced.
We have to hope that some other problem did not in
fact initiate the failure of the vacuum guage and
that the Tevatron abort system behaved properly.

If a store goes in during the owl shift, I have give the Silicon
Primary and SPL permission to include or hold out Silicon as they
judge appropriate (even if the beam conditions technically
meet our criteria for including Silicon).  - JJ - Ops Manager
Thu Feb 26 23:47:01 Shift Summary:
- No beam all shift following a quench on the previous
shift.

- Takasumi Maruyama worked on the SVT crates for two hours.
- David Clark worked on the silicon for about two hours.
- Rick Tesarek and Vivek Tiwari confirmed that the spike killer
is disabled for spike runs using change injection.
- We took cosmics with HV on and Silicon in for 5 hours.
